What is a chamber of commerce here?

In Colombia the local chambers of commerce keep the commercial registry; each registration shows which chamber holds it.

Do I pay for lookups that come back empty?

No. You are charged per result, so a request that finds nothing costs nothing. Testing this against a messy list is free to get wrong.

What does a lookup cost?

1 point per returned record, which is $1 per 1,000, and only records that come back are charged. Points come out of your monthly plan allowance, so there is no separate per-country contract.

RUES (Registro Mercantil) is a public register. Every response carries the source URL it was read from and a session id you can trace.

What it will not do

—Results include establishments as well as companies, so filter on company_type.
—NIT, address and incorporation date were null in the sample results.
—Broad names match many registrations; check total_found.

Results are registrations whose name matches the search. In the sample both were shops with the brand in their name. Search with the full legal name or look up the NIT directly.
