Kickstarter Project API and MCP — goal, pledged, backers, story and risks
Send a project in creator/project form, such as elanlee/exploding-kittens, or its Kickstarter link. You get one record with goal, pledged amount, backers, state, key dates, creator, category, location, the story and risks text, and counts of rewards, add-ons, updates, comments and FAQ entries.
- You send
- a creator/project path or Kickstarter URL
- You get back
- One Kickstarter project: goal, pledged, backers, state, dates, creator, category, location, story, risks and counts of rewards, updates, comments and FAQ.
- Coverage
- Kickstarter records with a public page.
- Price
- 5 pts — $5 per 1,000
- Charged only when the record resolves. A request that finds nothing is not billed.
Ways to get this data
Three approaches teams use today, and where each one runs into trouble.
| Approach | What it takes | Cost | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kickstarter directly | Open the page on Kickstarter and read it | Free, and slow | Fine for one record, useless across a list, and the layout differs on every platform |
| Building a scraper | Write it, host it, and repair it when Kickstarter changes its pages | Engineering time | A maintenance commitment for something that isn't your product |
| NeuralVerge | One request, the same shape as every other source in the catalog | $5 per 1,000, misses not billed | Returns what Kickstarter publishes at request time. Other platforms are separate sources with the same request format |

}How to run it
The same lookup works from the app, the API, or as a tool an agent can call mid-task.
One record per request. Results come back in the same envelope as every other source: a session id, a readable summary, the structured result and the points charged.
curl -X POST https://api.neuralverge.ai/functions/v1/run-kickstarter-projects \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"project":"elanlee/exploding-kittens"}'What teams use it for
Where this field shows up in an actual workflow.
Check state, dates, pledged versus goal, and the creator's own risks text.
Record state and successful_at for projects you follow.
Use category and location fields to place a project in its market.
Line up goal, pledged and backer_count across projects.
Coverage, freshness and limits
What this source covers, how fresh it is, and where it stops.
Kickstarter records with a public page.
Read at request time, so the answer reflects the platform as it stands when you ask.
This source returns information Kickstarter shows publicly. Every response carries the session id you can trace.
- —Individual rewards, updates and comments are returned as counts only, not as lists.
- —Pledged amounts are in the project's own currency; usd_pledged and converted_pledged_amount are conversions at request time.
- —The creator block carries a name and profile link. Use it as project attribution only.
