Futurepedia Categories API and MCP — AI Tool Categories With Tool Counts
Run it and get the AI tool categories listed on Futurepedia, each with its slug, name, link, the number of tools in it and the group it belongs to. These are the top sub-categories shown on the Futurepedia categories page. An optional group input narrows the list to one group, such as productivity, video, text-generators, business, image, automations, art, audio-generators, misc-tools or code.
- You send
- nothing required; optionally a group such as productivity, video or code
- You get back
- AI tool categories with the number of tools in each and the group they belong to
- Coverage
- Futurepedia records with a public page.
- Price
- 5 pts — $5 per 1,000
- Charged only when the record resolves. A request that finds nothing is not billed.
Ways to get this data
Three approaches teams use today, and where each one runs into trouble.
| Approach | What it takes | Cost | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Futurepedia directly | Browse Futurepedia and note each entry | Free, and slow | Fine for one record, useless across a list, and the layout differs on every platform |
| Building a scraper | Write it, host it, and repair it when Futurepedia changes its pages | Engineering time | A maintenance commitment for something that isn't your product |
| NeuralVerge | One request, the same shape as every other source in the catalog | $5 per 1,000, misses not billed | Returns what Futurepedia publishes at request time. Other platforms are separate sources with the same request format |

The same lookup works from the app, the API, or as a tool an agent can call mid-task.
